Kia ora, I'm Aayla
I’m someone who likes to keep things real. I’ve worked across big organisations, grassroots projects, kaupapa Māori & Pasifika spaces, and everything in between - and one thing I know for sure is this: people don’t need more jargon. They need clarity, structure, and support they can trust.
I’m driven by a deep belief that good advice should be accessible, practical, and grounded in the real lives of the people doing the mahi. I'm a business consultant, yes - but also a mum, a community advocate, a straight-talker, and someone who genuinely wants to see others succeed.
My background is in strategic management, change, and working alongside communities. But more than any job title, it’s the lived experience - of juggling life, work, whānau and purpose - that’s shaped how I show up today.
How BYD Started
BYD Consulting started from a simple idea: that good people doing great work often don’t have the time, tools, or headspace to run the business side of things.
I saw too many small businesses, founders, and community leaders burnt out trying to manage it all. I knew I could help - not just by giving advice, but by working with them to plan, prioritise, and actually get things done.
So BYD was born - not as a big flashy firm, but as a reliable partner for those needing clarity, momentum, and solid support behind the scenes. Since then, we’ve worked with all kinds of clients - from sole traders to grassroots organisations - helping them grow in ways that feel grounded and sustainable.
Where we're Going
We’re building more than a consulting business - we’re building a space where people feel seen, supported, and set up to succeed.
We believe in business that works for real life. Business that reflects who you are, what you value, and what you’re trying to change in the world. We want more people - especially those doing community-led, heart-led, or purpose-led mahi - to feel confident, capable, and clear.
Our vision is to grow BYD into a trusted hub of practical support - known for helping people cut through the noise, simplify their plans, and take action with confidence. Over time, we’ll expand our services, grow our team, and create more resources for people who are often overlooked in traditional business spaces.
We want to see more wāhine, more sole traders, more kaupapa-driven founders building businesses their way - with clarity, integrity, and good systems behind them.
Because when people are well-supported, they don’t just build businesses.
They build movements, change outcomes, and strengthen communities.
That’s where we’re heading - and we’d love to walk alongside you.
